Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is it possible for a simple, childlike toy, such as a kaleidoscope, to give hope, clarity, and meaning to all of the broken and shattered pieces of your life? In Kaleidoscope, Kelly Wiese deconstructs this simple yet complex toy by using each piece to illustrate how God is constantly at work, beautifully and carefully orchestrating a masterpiece with every aspect of your existence. In this unique and thought-provoking Bible study, you'll be challenged to see things from a fresh new perspective through the use of scripture, Bible stories, and real-life experiences. Kelly Wiese will walk you through each of the parts of a kaleidoscope, shedding new light on how each piece can help you to see beauty in your life and current situations that may seem painful or confusing otherwise. She then goes into depth discussing ways to stay connected and focused on God that will give you strength and guidance during the stormy transition periods of life as well. Each section is followed by study and personal application questions to further help you reflect upon and drive home the illustrations and stories she writes about. Kaleidoscope will leave you yearning to draw closer to God on a daily basis and help you see that everything you go through and experience in life is as unique and individual as the collection of colorful pieces inside of a kaleidoscope, with every scene adding up to one final masterpiece, handcrafted by our Heavenly Father.
Download or read book Kaleidoscope written by Gail Bowen and published by McClelland & Stewart. This book was released on 2012-04-24 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The thirteenth in Gail Bowen's beloved and award-winning Joanne Kilbourn mystery series promises to be the best of them all: some very bad things happen very, very close to home, and Joanne may never be quite the same again. "Security for any one of us lies in greater abundance for all of us." For many years, this was the core of Joanne's political beliefs, but for a number of reasons, she has drifted away from it. But on the day Joanne retires from her university teaching post, she has a dream about her first husband (murdered many years ago), and this line comes back vividly in it. Soon, she is forced to experience the truth of what, for most of her life, had just been a good closing line for a political speech. The night after Jo and Zack have dinner with Zack's colleague Margot and one of his law firm's biggest clients, the developer Leland Hunter, Jo and Zack's house is blown up. They're at the lake with daughter Taylor and their dogs, but the house is destroyed. And that is only the first of several terrible incidents. It isn't long before Joanne is witness to events far more distressing than even a destroyed home. She begins to understand what it's like to live in a world where she can count on nothing.

Her work has appeared in six countries across three continents. Sweta has held recent artist residencies and workshops in Portugal, Ireland, and several within USA. She is a graduate of Columbia University. "In this innovative series, Sweta Srivastava Vikram re-appropriates color. Cultures and mythologies collide along the way, and the result is a chapbook that feels like a quest. In the end, the colors are a map to identity. The child's pink tonsils or the bride's red sari are not symbols, but rather mile markers. Like Vikram's poems, they lead toward understanding" --Erica Wright, Senior Poetry Editor, "Guernica" About the Chapbook The book delves into the implication and philosophy of colors from a Hindu woman's point of view, from birth until death. The color she adorns herself with almost depicts the story of her life. Expressed through different poetic and verbal forms, each color in the book has its own tone and is specific to different age groups. Download or read book Kaleidoscope written by E. J. Barnett and published by Strategic Book Publishing. This book was released on 2012-03 with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kaleidoscope is a collection of prose and poetry that takes a glimpse at our lives, reflecting back our dark secrets as well as our beautiful dreams. Just as a real kaleidoscope emerges in a collage of ever-changing colorful patterns, the flowing poetry in Kaleidoscope changes its words, portraying a stained glass image of our lives. The words continually float from dark to light, exposing a prism of our inner fears and hopes. The entire collection is about how different situations in our life affect each of us, says author E.J. Barnett. "I am inspired by the spirit within, simplicity and children." Her words evoke images that will stay with you long after the last page is read. "E.J. Barnett stands far from the tenebrous poetry of this generation. She brings light to her pages and makes us feel better about our future." - Bobby Dews, writer in residence at Andrew College, Cuthbert, Georgia, and former Atlanta Braves coach "Intriguing for lack of a better word. E.J. speaks with a clear inner voice on the reflections of life." - Ralph W. Hill, Airport Operations Manager, Landside, Port of Oakland, Aviation Division, Oakland, California "The words of E.J. Barnett are vivid, moving and draw me in. Her work is insightful and awakens all my senses." - Kim Parker, MSPT (master's in science physical therapy) E. J. Barnett of Phoenix is a flight attendant. Her next book is titled The House That Jack Built, the Hen House, a collection of short stories based on her childhood. "I grew up with ten sisters and two brothers (hence the title), in rural Phoenix in the forties and fifties." http: //sbpra.com/EJBarnett
Download or read book Kaleidoscope written by Cecily Wong and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2022-07-05 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A dazzling and heartfelt novel about two sisters caught in their parents’ ambition, the accident that brings it all crashing down, and the journey that follows. Everybody’s heard of The Brightons. From rags to riches, sleepy Oregon to haute New York, they are the biracial Chinese American family that built Kaleidoscope, a glittering, ‘global bohemian’ shopping empire sourcing luxury goods from around the world. Statuesque, design savant, and family pet—eldest daughter Morgan Brighton is most celebrated of all. Yet despite her favored status, both within the family and in the press, nobody loves her more than Riley. Smart and nervy Riley Brighton — whose existence is forever eclipsed by her older sister’s presence. When a catastrophic event dismantles the Brightons’ world, it is Riley who’s left with questions about her family that challenge her memory, identity, and loyalty. She sets off across the globe with an unlikely companion to seek truths about the people she thought she knew best —herself included. Using the brightly colored, shifting mosaic patterns of a kaleidoscope as its guide, and told in arresting, addictive fragments, Kaleidoscope is at once a reckoning with one family’s flawed American Dream, and an examination of the precious bond between sisters. It reveals, too, the different kinds of love left to grow when tightly held stories are finally let go. At turns devastating and funny, warm and wise, sexy and transportive, Riley’s journey confronts the meaning of freedom and travel, youth and innocence, and what it looks like to belong, grieve, and love on one’s own terms.
Download or read book Kaleidoscope written by Ineda P. Adesanya and published by Church Publishing. This book was released on 2019-12-17 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: • A comprehensive resource for understanding the various components of spiritual direction • The first such resource written entirely by spiritual directors of color Early mystics of the Near East and northern Africa created the monastic traditions and were the first psychologists, exploring various practices to test the human capacity. In medieval times, spiritual direction was common in the Roman Catholic monastic traditions. It extended significantly into Protestant Christianity in the late twentieth century by predominantly white and affluent organizations. Spiritual direction has progressively become a global, multi-religious and interfaith practice. This book is a comprehensive and concise text from a spiritual director of color, offering inclusive resources and tools to spiritual directors of many faiths and for people of diverse cultures and traditions. Core skills such a deep listening, hospitality, and discernment are presented with cutting-edge lessons on internal liberation, systemic trauma, and imaginative discovery. Spiritual direction is taught by more than 100 educational institutions and spirituality centers in the US alone, but typical curriculum generally does not reflect current cultural reality and growing diversity. This is a textbook for anyone who studies spiritual direction as both preparation for and deepening of their calling.

Book excerpt: This book contains two stories: "Kit Kaleidoscope Goes to the Masked Ball" and "Kit Kaleidoscope and the Mermaid in the Jar". In "The Masked Ball," Kit stumbles upon an orgiastic party, but the revelers don't disturb her as much as a play that involves a seemingly young boy. In "The Mermaid in the Jar," Kit has a real job working in a graveyard, which brings her into contact with two brothers, one a recently deceased taxidermist and the other an idealistic sculptor. As an artist herself, Kit takes an interest in the sculptor, but the two have very different feelings about the meaning of art. Both stories are black-and-white and completely wordless.
